Desert trips are easier when you pack light. You do not need specialist expedition equipment for a normal road-based Morocco tour, but you should prepare for sun, dust and large temperature changes.
Clothing
Choose breathable layers for daytime and keep one warmer layer for evenings. Long sleeves can be useful for sun protection.
Footwear
Comfortable closed shoes or sturdy walking shoes work well for village stops and uneven surfaces. Sandals can be useful at camp but are not ideal for every stop.
Sun and wind
- Sunglasses
- High-SPF sunscreen
- Sun hat
- Scarf or buff
Useful extras
- Reusable water bottle
- Portable battery
- Small overnight bag
- Personal medication
- Travel-size tissues or wipes
Winter note
From late autumn through early spring, pack more warmth than you expect. Desert camps can feel cold after sunset even when the afternoon was sunny.
